Anti-gender politics in Eastern Europe

Titre : Anti-gender politics in Eastern Europe

Auteur(s) : David PATERNOTTE
Abstract : This special issue examines anti-gender politics in the specific geographical and cultural space of Eastern Europe. Free and responsible ...

Titre :  Free and responsible: Sexuality, pastoral, and the art of governance in Catholic Conjugal Centres (1953–1990)
Auteur(s) : Anne-Sophie CROSETTI
Abstract : This article deals with a socio-historical enigma: the articulation of family planning – through dedicated centres – and catholicism. How come self-identified catholics ended up defending contraception and decriminalisation of abortion while the Catholic Church kept reminding that sexuality should be conjugal and reproductive? The article examines the process of creating a discursive and practical normativity allowing the use of contraception and abortion through a catholic ‘tool’, that is, the pastoral power at a time of secularisation. Borrowing the concept developed by Michel Foucault enables highlighting the ‘catholic governmentality’ regarding contraception and abortion, namely, the ‘responsible-freedom’.

Mettre l’alcool au feu ...

Titre :

Decolonizing Feminism...

Titre : Decolonizing Feminism: the NGO-ization Paradigm between the Global Circuits of Neoliberal Power and the Politics of Location. The Case of Romania
Auteur :
Alexandra ANA (AGS-ULB)
Abstract : While the NGO-ization paradigm helped explain the institutionalization, professionalization, and bureaucratization of feminist movements around the world, from the late 80s and early 90s on, by focusing on the most visible actors, it often concealed the multiplicity of feminisms and their internal heterogeneity. By looking at the institutionalization of feminism in Romania through decolonial lenses, this essay aims to understand some of the transnational processes that have been overlooked or curtailed within the NGO-ization literature.
